Pat Condell On Religion

First of all if a verbal assault on religion offends you please don’t watch the video. I wouldn’t deny anyone their right to believe in whatever they choose. Personally I agree with every word spoken in this gem from Pat Condell.

  2. Hi Bill,

So many truths spoken and so many people feel the same way. It’s just a shame we can’t voice our opinions without being labelled a racist of some shape or form. If we got a group together to voice our concerns the powers that be would be the first to label us and chase US out of town.

We’re far to accommodating on this small island of ours. I see now that our “Christmas Greetings” banners now have to read “Seasons greetings” so as to not offend other religions: Those religions brought here by visitors to a christian country that has been a christian country for centuries and is well documented as such.

It’s a shame that so many of them don’t show the respect to others that they want us all to show them.

Arse about face this country mate.

    Take care Bill,

Yes Barry, whatever happened to freedom of speech? Although I have no interest whatsoever in religion, this country is more accommodating to other religions than it’s own. I wonder how long it will be before laws are passed to forbid altogether the advertising of the Christmas name.

To me Pat Condell summed up religion in four words “a ridiculous superstitious hoax”. Bill

  3. Ditto with you Bill, I agree with every word Pat said. My only complaint is that he was a bit too kind for my liking. If you could post a full on anti-god rant, you may get some aggrieved religious people posting a comment. That may start an interesting debate. At the moment you are getting fellow atheists who agree with Pat. Keep up the good work though, I enjoy your varied posts.

Hi John, nice to hear from you again, I hope you are feeling better now. I doubt if any religious people read blog posts, they are normally too narrow minded to be involved in the real world. They feel safe in their own enclosed environement and religion is their crutch to get through life. When their ‘religious insurance’ comes to pay out time, as Pat says, “it will disappear in a puff of smoke”. Bill

  4. And here I was waiting for the punchline “I am an atheist, thank God”, and it didn’t come!

I was down at my local this afternoon and they asked me if I would like to buy any tickets in the Xmas ham raffles. As you know, I’m as lucky as a standby passenger who got the last seat on the Titanic. So I said, “Sorry, I’m Jewish”. The poor fellow was so appologetic I didn’t have the heart to tell him I was joking.

Now it is coming out about the way orphans were treated by the Catholic church, especially those who where shipped from England to Australia during and after WW2. It seems that in the Catholic church, you cannot have a wife, but you can fuck all the little boys you want and expect to get away with it. And they are still trying to cover it up today.

As far as I’m concerned, religion has been the single biggest hinderance to man’s progress throughout the ages.

Don, what a great answer to the Xmas raffle. I have found that the majority of religious people are hypocrites and as you have pointed out the Catholic church has a good many of them. I couldn’t agree more with your last sentence, but I would also add – it has also been the cause of more deaths than all the wars and catastrophies in history. Bill
