Thought For The Week

While walking down the street one day a politician is struck by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St Peter at the entrance.

“Welcome to heaven”, says St Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem, we seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you”.

“No problem, just let me in”, says the politician.

“Well I’d like to but I have orders from higher up, What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one day in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity”.

Product Creation

We are now on the 2nd phase of John Thornhill’s Masterclass course and this deals with the creation of products to sell on the internet.

John asks that we write down a list of all the topics that we have posted on our blogs, so this is easy enough for everyone.

Then we need to write down 10 things we consider we are good at, again this shouldn’t prove to be too difficult.

The next step is to list 10 things people SAY we are good at. Now this may prove to be a little more difficult for people, especially listing 10 examples.

Blog Comments

A simple system I have devised for commenting on other peoples blogs, which you may find helpful is this.

List alphabetically in a file all the ones you intend to re-vist. Type in their url and it is easier and quicker to click on the url rather than trying to find them in the rotating list on your own blog.

I hope you find this useful.

Wishing you, all that you would wish yourself.

Say No To 0870 Numbers

For those in the UK that are fed up with being ‘ripped off’ on the dreaded costly 0 prefix telephone numbers, there is a free service that gives you an alternative. Go to www.saynoto0870.com

This service applies to 0844, 0845, 0870, 0871 numbers plus others. All that is required is that you click on ‘search to find an alternative number’, input the number in the search box, click on search and where available it will give you the geographical area number and in some cases even a freephone number.

Irish Railways

The following is an exchange of correspondence between a customer and Irish Rail.

Gentlemen,

I have been riding trains daily for the last 2 years and the service on your line seems to be getting worse every day. I am tired of standing in the aisle all the time on a 14 mile trip. I think the transportation system is worse than that enjoyed by people 2000 years ago.

Yours truly, Patrick Finnegan.

Dear Mr Finnegan,

We received your letter regarding the shortcomings of our service and believe you are somewhat confused in your history. The only mode of transport 2000 years ago was by foot

The Times They Are A Changing

I have just got back from a walk with my wife and we were discussing the changes in living standards over the last 50 years. I would say that there have been more changes in those 50 years than in the last 500 years.

When you think about it the standard of living today was unimaginable to people in 1960. Those were the days when television was in it’s infancy and large wooden boxes contained the very small black and white screens that were so unreliable and were run on valves not printed circuits.

1st Phase Report

Well, we have now finished John’s first phase of the Masterclass course, the 7 weeks have flown by and if you are all like me, will be amazed at what we have covered in such a short space of time. Feeling alone in the course has suddenly been transformed with visiting other people’s sites and adding comments and receiving them in return. It now feels as though we all have something in common and it has been a revelation to see the diversity of students blogs.

How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?

How Lucky We Are

Reading John Thornhill’s blog post of 19.03.10 ‘The Struggles Of An Internet Marketer’ brought back the realisation of how lucky we are nowadays. John talks about his days of utter frustration, working in a factory for a living, where by his own admission he was constantly in debt and how internet marketing changed his life forever.

My own past reflected John’s to a certain degree but I have to say without the debt problems and more to do with working conditions than frustration over the job itself. You see I was a Plastering and Tiling Contractor and worked in the construction industry when Health and Safety meant having the ability to cross the road without being run over.
